Bitcoin transfer fees are the only payment made by users of the cryptocurrency network. They are received by miners, who maintain the operability of Bitcoin with their computing power. However, the drop in the value of the main cryptocurrency Bitcoin has also pushed down the transfer fee in the Bitcoin network. Today, bitcoin transfer fees have reached their lowest level in the last three years — 2.5 cents. At the beginning of 2018, fees in the Bitcoin network reached their all-time high — the average cost of a BTC transfer was 34 dollars. At the same time, the 24-hour load of the network reached 308 thousand transactions. Today, however, you can transfer your bitcoins for just 2.5 cents. And this is despite the fact that the number of transactions is roughly equal to 234 thousand per day.
Twitter user Kevin Rooke made a small comparison of fees in January 2019 and October 2015. It turns out that right now the fee for transferring cryptocurrency is no higher than three years ago (0.02 dollars). At the same time, the average number of transactions over 24 hours as of January 1 has doubled.
