Horizen (ZEN) is a decentralized open-source cryptocurrency that was previously named ZenCash. Just like ZenCash, the ZEN cryptocurrency platform provides complete confidentiality and anonymity for its users. It can be said that the Horizen cryptocurrency is already the 3rd generation of secure Bitcoin, which was created specifically to ensure maximum security and confidentiality and has a considerable history of development. Horizen has a fixed amount of ZEN cryptocoins – 21 million coins, of which about 6 million are currently in circulation. New coins in the circulation of the Horizen network appear through mining. Horizen is currently listed on exchanges such as UPbit, DragonEX, Bittrex, Huobi Global, Binance, Sistemkoin, OKEx,Trade Satosh, COSS and Graviex.
Since Horizen did not conduct an ICO to raise the funds needed to develop the project, in order to raise funds for current developments and security improvements, Horizen changed the mining reward distribution algorithm that was originally in ZenCash:
- - 88% of the reward (which will amount to 12.5 ZEN per block) is distributed among the miners who mined the block;
- - 5% is provided for funding one or more DAOs;
- - 3.5% of the block reward is received by the operators of Secure Nodes;
- - 3.5% goes to funding the Horizen Core team.
Horizen (ZEN) is not only a secure cryptocurrency, but also the ability to communicate confidentially during transactions and to publish documents on the Horizen blockchain using a decentralized file system (IPFS).
