A Pull Request (a request to include changes) is a developer's proposal to add the code edits they have made to the main project. The mechanism is widely used in Git-based version control systems and on collaborative development platforms such as GitHub. In essence it is a formalized request to "take my changes and include them in the shared codebase".
Work is usually organized as follows: a participant creates a separate branch, makes changes to it and then opens a pull request to the project's target branch. Other team members see the proposed edits, can leave comments, request revisions and discuss implementation details. After review the changes are accepted (merged) or rejected.
For open-source blockchain projects pull requests are especially important: it is precisely through them that the community proposes protocol improvements, bug fixes and new features. This makes the development process of decentralized projects transparent — anyone can study the change history and understand who proposed what to add to the code.
