A referrer (also called a referral farmer) is a participant in an affiliate or referral program whose main task is to attract new users to a project. For each invitee who completes the required actions, the referrer receives a reward, the size and form of which are defined by the program's terms.
What a referrer does
A referrer distributes their personal referral link and uses it to invite people to a service — a crypto exchange, a wallet, an investment platform, or another project. Earnings come from sign-up bonuses, a share of fees, or other incentives tied to the activity of the invited participants. For some users, attracting referrals becomes a separate line of activity.
- distributes referral links and invites new participants;
- receives a reward for the activity of the audience they bring in;
- operates within the terms of a specific affiliate program.
A referrer's activity is closely tied to the reliability of the project itself: rewards only have value when the service is stable and meets its obligations. That is why conscientious referrers are interested in promoting trusted projects rather than drawing people into dubious schemes.
