
In the modern world, many professions are closely tied to forced physical inactivity. This also applies to those people whose earnings depend directly on being at the computer. Office workers, freelancers, traders on Forex or on the cryptocurrency market spend hours of their time in front of monitors. And if you add to this the time spent behind the wheel of a car and the so-called rest in front of the TV, it turns out that a sedentary lifestyle takes up almost all of a person's waking hours.
The consequences of a sedentary lifestyle are used to frighten everyone: it is known that physical inactivity contributes to the development of obesity and heart disease. According to recent studies, the consequences of a sedentary lifestyle are the cause of 3.8% of premature deaths. In other words, an insufficient level of physical activity increases the risk of various diseases. Everyone can analyze how much time they spend at the computer, behind the wheel of a car, on the couch in front of the TV. The result — an increase in cardiovascular diseases, obesity, osteochondrosis, prostate problems, sciatica, hemorrhoids.
However, scientists from Great Britain state that it is also possible to be in good health even with a sedentary lifestyle. True, some effort will have to be made for this. The specialists gave advice addressed to people who spend their working day at the computer, as well as to people with other "sedentary" professions. According to the experts, those who work in a sitting position need to take breaks from work every 30 minutes and warm up.
"Get up from your workplace and do any physical exercises for 10 minutes. It is advisable that there be free access to air, that is, the exercises are best done by an open window," the scientists recommended.
The scientists also emphasized that excess weight and obesity are only the most visible negative consequences of physical inactivity, caused by a surplus of unspent energy: "In addition to the growth of fatty tissue, constant sitting in a chair is fraught with the onset of diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular diseases, muscle atrophy, nearsightedness, prostatitis in men and gynecological inflammations in women, osteochondrosis, sciatica, constipation and hemorrhoids."
The specialists also advised people with sedentary jobs to choose their food more carefully. In conditions of forced physical inactivity, it is better to give up consuming sweets and pastries, flour products, and fatty and heavy foods. For snacks, only fruits, vegetables, nuts, cottage cheese and clean mineral water should be on hand.
