From 2027, France’s National Agency for the Security of Information Systems (ANSSI) will stop certifying cybersecurity products that lack encryption resistant to quantum attacks. This was announced by the agency’s chief of staff, Sami Souissi, at the France Quantum conference.
ANSSI certification is required to use such solutions in French government bodies and at critical infrastructure sites. According to Souissi, by 2030 companies must purchase only quantum-resistant products. The transition is driven by the “harvest now, decrypt later” risk: attackers can already today intercept and store encrypted data in order to reveal it in the future with the help of sufficiently powerful quantum computers.
