Blockstream CEO and Hashcash creator Adam Back shared an interesting opinion. The well-known cryptographer believes that the first cryptocurrency is based on a fundamental mathematical discovery rather than an ordinary invention. At the same time, the scientist firmly rejected the popular hypothesis that developer Peter Todd is hiding behind the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. The discussion flared up across social media and instantly revived long-standing debates within the cryptocurrency community.
The aforementioned dispute began with a post by Todd himself. The programmer recalled how, back in his teenage years, he discussed digital-money concepts in detail with Adam Back and Hal Finney. With this argument, the developer decided to back up his protest against the UK authorities' plans to restrict the age of social-media users.

Could Todd be Satoshi
Todd's post was not at all intended as a confession of authorship, although some specialized media presented the news in exactly that light. The author sought to show the importance of open discussions for young talents. In the programmer's opinion, isolating teenagers from technical forums will deprive the world of future innovators. In those distant years, young specialists discussed only the general principles of decentralized architecture and proof-of-work systems.
One of the readers hastened to interpret Back's words as the long-awaited confirmation of the Todd-is-Satoshi theory. The well-known cryptographer reacted immediately and completely refuted such an assumption.
