Elon Musk considers quadrillionaire status «entirely real». Such an enormous scale of economy will require factories on the Moon and Mars.
Recently social media users calculated that the billionaire is only about $998.9 trillion short of a quadrillion dollars. Musk did not stay out of it and supported the idea: in his view, accumulating such sums will be possible only through production beyond Earth.

Mass and energy instead of money
Musk's reply drew attention: it became clear where the upper limit of wealth growth on a single planet now lies. In his view, it is impossible to accumulate such sums with «earthly» assets alone.
«This is real, but for it you definitely need factories on the Moon and Mars».
Elon Musk wondered what currency will even mean in the future. He did not name a replacement for it, but suggested that the very concept of money could change completely.
«By that point, I think, dollars will no longer matter. Only mass and energy», — the entrepreneur emphasized.
Musk said all this against the backdrop of SpaceX's explosive growth. The company carried out a record IPO with a $2 trillion valuation on Nasdaq and within a short time entered the six most valuable companies in the U.S. Musk previously forecast that by 2030 SpaceX's revenue could reach $1 trillion, although in 2025 the company expects to earn $18.7 billion.
Musk's volcanic logic
The same logic is visible in all of Musk's projects. Under his contract with SpaceX, he promised 200 million shares with enhanced voting rights if a permanent colony of at least one million people arises on Mars. SpaceX has already formed the first crew for a flight around Mars, and a crypto billionaire is among them.
Musk did not miss the chance to joke that he would finally acquire that same «volcanic lair» he has more than once mentioned publicly with a smile. Framing even the boldest plans through a smile and science fiction is his signature style.
