The UK and Japan have agreed to expand cooperation in quantum technologies under the UK-Japan Frontier Technology Partnership. The document was signed following a meeting of Prime Ministers Keir Starmer and Sanae Takaichi in London.
The parties intend to develop quantum computing, sensors, and communications, as well as to work jointly on integrating quantum systems with high-performance computing. The agreement also mentions test sites, evaluation frameworks, and systems integration.
Separately, the UK authorities noted ORCA Computing's export deal in Japan. According to them, it is one of the first cases of a major corporation purchasing a quantum computer.
